• Budget providers and online-only services: £400–£600 (typically a shorter assessment, often without an MDT review or detailed report)
• Mid-range private clinics: £600–£900 (typically includes a Consultant Psychiatrist, a full diagnostic report, and some form of follow-up)
• Specialist psychiatric centres and hospital groups: £900–£1,500+ (includes extended assessment time, often multiple sessions, and comprehensive reporting)

Significant variation in price does not always reflect proportional variation in quality — nor does a lower price necessarily mean a lesser service. What matters most is who conducts the assessment, their qualifications, and what the assessment process includes.

What Are the Ongoing Costs if Medication Is Needed?

If your assessment results in an ADHD diagnosis and medication is indicated, there are additional costs to be aware of:

Medication Titration Appointments

Finding the right medication and dose is a process — typically three to six months of regular follow-up appointments. On average, Zenvité patients require one medication initiation appointment and two to three titration appointments before moving to a six-monthly review schedule. Each appointment is charged individually; your clinician will outline expected costs at your initial assessment.

Ongoing Prescription Costs

Once stabilised on medication, your prescribing options in Wales are:

• Shared care with your GP: if your GP agrees to take over prescribing under a shared care agreement, you pay standard NHS prescription charges. Not all GPs in Wales will agree to this — see our pillar article for more on the shared care question.
• Private prescribing: if shared care is not arranged, prescriptions are managed privately. ADHD medication costs vary by type and dose but typically run between £50 and £120 per month from private pharmacies.
